NSSCC Grand Final winners are crowned!

We had the privilege of sponsoring the National Secondary Schools Culinary Challenge, and last week the winners were crowned!

The grand final took place at MIT, South Auckland, and was an event that showcased the exceptional culinary talents of high school students across New Zealand.

The 8 teams at the final should be so proud, as should every school that participated!

Huge congratulations to the winners Max Calvert, Eisha Scerri, and their tutor Toby Sanderson from the Trades Academy at WelTech in Wellington! 👏👨‍🍳🎉

The 8 regional teams in the final:

  • Kerikeri High School

  • Botany Down Secondary College

  • Taumarunui High School

  • Whanganui High School

  • Wellington Trades Academy

  • St Johns College Hastings

  • Burnside College

  • Southland Boys High School

We love to see young people developing their skills and enjoying the process of cooking… it is such an art and an excellent profession. As Chief Judge Renny Aprea said ‘You are the best of the best’, they were ‘judging aspiring chefs and we hope they go on to careers in the industry because our industry needs talented people like these students now more than ever before”

The next day the teams set off on a New Zealand Culinary Journey, where they experienced parts of the hospitality industry, including a tour of Bidfood processing and the Auckland South branch.

We are privileged to be part of this journey, and hope every participant had a memorable experience.
